Celebrating Local Pottery: A Labor of Love and Connection to Community

In today’s fast-paced world, everyone needs a rest. Restorative tourism is not just for luxury seekers or wellness enthusiasts—it’s a universal need that appeals to all demographics. By normalizing restorative experiences, vacation rentals, hotels, and event venues can play a vital role in creating spaces that rejuvenate, inspire, and foster long-term guest loyalty.

Local pottery is one of my favorite elements in design, and for good reason. The labor of love behind each handmade piece, the connection to natural elements, and the community it builds resonate deeply in my work.

Pottery brings texture, warmth, and authenticity into any space—creating a story that speaks to the place, the people, and the process behind each creation. Whether it’s in a vacation rental, a restaurant, or a wedding venue, local pottery ties a space together and enriches the guest experience.

encourage guests to pause, breathe, and connect.

Labor of Love: Pottery is a craft that demands patience and skill. Each piece, from the shaping to the firing, tells the story of the artist’s dedication to their craft. The intricate details, the glazing, and the final form all highlight the human touch—something that mass-produced goods simply can’t replicate.

Connection to Nature: Pottery is deeply connected to the earth and natural materials. From the clay to the glaze, it carries the rawness of the land it came from, often incorporating local minerals and elements. In design, this grounding presence of nature can bring a sense of place and connection to the outdoors—vital for creating immersive, experiential spaces.

Community Building: Supporting local pottery is about more than just acquiring beautiful objects; it's about nurturing the arts, supporting small businesses, and contributing to a community of like-minded creatives. By integrating local pottery into spaces, we also elevate the work of artisans who are committed to their craft and their community.

My Current Favorite Pottery Finds:

Cieri Fabrication: Known for their unique, functional designs, Hannah's pottery combines artistry with practicality, each piece inspired by nature making them both beautiful and purposeful in design schemes.

Deepwoods Pottery: This artisan pottery collection made in northern Vermont, brings natural textures to life with an organic aesthetic that fits effortlessly into rustic and modern spaces alike.

Rory Pots: Rory’s lighting pieces have a perfect balance of form and function. We love incorporating them into our designs for adding a ground element with modern lines and creativity to any environment.

Fenway Clayworks: located in Golden Colorado, creating beautifully crafted, functional art, and a place where colorful vibrance and everyday function meet in perfect harmony commanding a worthy presence in any of our designs.

Heath Ceramics: started in 1948 by the hands of legends in the world of clay Edith and Brian Heath. We love to incorporate everything from their ramakins to bud vases, tiles, all beautifully made by an incredible team in Sausalito, CA.

I’m always on the lookout for local pottery and vintage pieces that tell a story. The hunt for new artisans and unique items is a passion that never ends, and it brings an element of surprise and authenticity to every design I create.
