Kate Robinson grew up knowing Smuggler's Notch the way you only know a place when it has shaped you. The mountain, the village, the particular quality of Vermont winter light. These were not a backdrop. They were the education.
That education continued with formal training in sustainable landscape horticulture at the University of Vermont, followed by National Board Certification in Health and Wellness Coaching and interior design coursework.
A career built in Vermont hospitality at a time when the state's rental and retreat landscape was before the rental landscape started noticing what intentional design could do for a property and its guests. Since her time at UVM, she's been deeply immersed in the science of design, studying how the brain and nervous system respond to beauty, space, and the built environment, currently pursuing a formal certification that gives language and science to what Kate has always understood intuitively: space changes people.

Wild Birch Design was built on a single conviction. The spaces we inhabit shape the people we become. Not metaphorically. Biologically. The nervous system responds to beauty, symmetry, natural light, and the quality of materials in ways that are measurable and real.
We design for that response. Every vacation rental, every hospitality property, every landscape. Designed to produce a felt experience that guests carry home and return to find again.
how we work
Every project begins with a treatment plan. Not a mood board. Not a Pinterest pull. A full intake, a site assessment, a considered strategy built around the property, its story, its guests, and its goals. Then the work. Then the outcome.
We measure success the way our clients do: in ADR, in RevPAR, in reviews that say something changed. In guests who rebook. In properties that sell.
where we work
Wild Birch Design is based in Hancock, Vermont, and serves clients across the state, the White Mountains of New Hampshire, coastal Maine, and the broader New England region. Our primary markets are Killington, Smuggler's Notch, and the Mad River Valley, three of Vermont's most significant and underserved design markets.
We work in person and remotely. Distance is never the reason not to begin.
